Abstract: In this highly dynamic world, a lot of pressure has come on the organisations in developing countries to perform better in the coming days. For that reason, the companies| related to industrial production should try to improve their technological status by implementing advanced manufacturing technologies. In this paper, various barriers that affect the utilisation level of AMTs are identified from literature review and experts opinion. The Interpretive Structural Modelling approach has been employed to develop the structural relationship among different barriers for achieving manufacturing success. It has been observed that resistance from employees and motivation and rewards have highest dependence power, while lack of management experience and knowledge has highest driving power.

Keywords: AMT; advanced manufacturing technology; usage barriers; driving power; dependence power; ISM; interpretive structural modelling.
