Abstract: Numerical simulation has reached a high degree of acceptance within the last years. This is very important in the field of coal-fired utility boilers. Because of the cost of calculation time, simplified global reaction models are very attractive. In this work, reaction models were tested that also cast important equilibrium equations, such as the water-gas-shift reaction. A validation exercise with a full scale boiler is presented.
