Abstract: In order to predict the perforation life of lap joints in automotive panels, perforation corrosion was analysed using extreme-value statistics under various corrosive environments including laboratory cyclic tests (CCT) and in the field itself. It was found that the two parameters of Gumbel|s distribution of maximum values of perforation corrosion depth are closely related to the corrosion form and environmental corrosive factors.
