Abstract: New developments in high-power electron beam (EB) equipment technology are discussed. These include recent advances in high-power reduced pressure and non-vacuum electron beam systems which have the potential to greatly extend the application of EB welding into a wider range of heavy engineering applications. Examples of applications in structural steels, nickel alloys, copper and aluminium alloys are described.

Keywords: electron beam equipment performance; high-power EBW; electron beam welding; structural steels; nickel alloys; copper; aluminium alloys.
