Abstract: In this paper, we introduce a fragile watermarking method for colour image recovery via colour filter array (CFA) interpolation. Channels of a colour image are turned to a grey image according to Bayer patterns, which is embedded into the original image as reference-bits along with some authentication-bits generated from the image. On the receiver side, the authentication-bits are extracted to restore the original size of the watermarked image and identify the tampered regions if it is artificially cropped or tampered. Then the reference-bits are extracted from the reserved blocks to reconstruct the contents of the tampered regions by the colour filter array interpolation algorithm. Experiments indicate the proposed method provides anti-cropping capability with good self-recovery quality.
