Abstract: This paper describes the development and testing of a model for the dispersed production of multimedia products. It starts by examining some traditional instructional design models and progresses to examine two models specifically configured for multimedia production. Finally, the proposed model for use in the ODL Socrates project is presented and explained. In conclusion the authors give an account of testing the model in a dispersed transnational project which produced a multimedia CD-ROM product.
