Abstract: Experimental data obtained from strengthened, preloaded, reinforced concrete (RC) beams are shown. The RC beams were initially loaded to 85% of the ultimate flexural capacity. Then, load was reduced to 60% and maintained on the RC beam for bonding carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) plate to the bottom surface. The experimental programme carried out tests on beams of different reinforcement ratio and concrete strength. The behaviour of the repaired beams is represented by load-deflection curves. The ductility of the beams is available. The results generally indicate that the flexural strength of the repaired beams is increased.

Keywords: CFRP; ductility; reinforced concrete beams.
