Title: Identification of potential defects in the rehabilitation of concrete structures with FRP composites

Abstract: The efficacy of use of fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for the rehabilitation of concrete infrastructure components depends not only on the quality of the bond between the FRP composite and the concrete, but also on the integrity of the composite and adhesive constituents and systems. For greater acceptability and use of these systems, there is a need for identification and clarification of potential defects, in order to enable ease of inspection and quality control. This paper identifies potential defects ranging from aspects at the constituent, assembly and fabrication levels. Generic effects of these defects are noted.
