Abstract: Within the Resource-Based View (RBV) there is a lack of concrete methods by which the resources of the firm can be described, analysed and managed. This paper will present a number of simple tools that can assist the firm in analysing its stock of resources and capabilities. An organisational capability is modelled as composed of three different types of knowledge-based resources. The paper then describes a method by which an organisational capability can be described and modelled. Finally, the paper addresses managerial challenges for the development of an organisational capability based on the need for changes in the knowledge-based resources.
