Abstract: E-government is important for China|s economic and social development. A survey was conducted to understand the Chinese internet users| opinions on and usage patterns of local Chinese e-government websites. A trust in government websites and a positive attitude towards e-government were found among the Chinese netizens. Unique concerns of Chinese netizens regarding government websites were revealed. Critical factors of successful e-government as seen by the Chinese netizens are identified.
