Title: Video computer systems as a part of the renewal of the Soviet education system

Abstract: This paper is dedicated to the problems of renewal in Soviet higher education. A short review of its past development is presented. The author analyses some problems in the educational system, caused by far-reaching changes in the economic and political systems. Several possible directions for the process of renewal are indicated, and some perspectives in the development of alternative educational structures are discussed. Video and personal computer phenomena are presented as a pan of youth culture. Perspectives of the application of video computer systems in education are also discussed.
