Abstract: This paper reviews the campus environmental and ecology movement in the USA from its early days, with a number of case studies of initiatives at US colleges and universities. The obstacles to the campus environmental stewardship movement are examined. Some pointers are given to successful approaches to campus environmental management, including steps for incorporating environmental efforts into the day-to-day practices and teaching at colleges and universities.
