Abstract: This research tried to propose a ubiquitous computer supported collaborative learning (UCSCL) mechanism with integrating both ubiquitous and web-based technologies. Based on the proposed UCSCL mechanism, one hybrid mobile discussion forum named |StudentPartner| was designed and implemented. The hybrid discussion forum |StudentPartner| provided two versions for web-based and mobile context, respectively; thereby making users more convenient to access the discussion forum for collaboration online and offline. After half a year experiment was conducted, the results found that there were some significant correlations between the usages of mobile and web-based versions. The reasons were deeply studied for causing the relationship of usages between mobile and web-based. Furthermore, various distribution of usage was also investigated due to different strategies; with push mail technology, it prohibited the usage of mobile version and promoted that of web-based version. Some interesting phenomena were also got and worth further investigation in the future.
