Abstract: A novel approach for designing a robustly guaranteed cost controller via linear matrix inequality is proposed in this paper. A class of continuous time linear systems, with norm bounded time-varying uncertainties, in conjunction of the second order actuator|s position and rate limited, are targeted in application. The sufficient condition for the existence of the guaranteed cost controller is derived, which is equivalent to the feasibility problem of a certain linear matrix inequality, therefore the controller can be parameterised. The approach is applied to design controller for a specified plant in initial bench tests. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective and feasible.
