Abstract: Reducing CO2 emissions while continuing economic growth in a sustainable way is one of the most important global issues of today. With a recognized key role, industry has already achieved much to reduce CO2 emissions, through increased energy efficiency and energy conservation. However, more needs to be done and new initiatives are required to add to market forces. Government must consider how they should provide the stimulus and the economic instruments to encourage consumers and industry to act in the right way without unduly interfering in market processes.

Keywords: chemical industry; carbon dioxide; domestic sectors; transport sectors; greenhouse gases; GHG emissions; energy efficiency; industry; global warming; energy conservation.
