Abstract: Changes in production, economic and technological environments are forcing organisations to update their information systems. In particular environments and circumstances, reengineering presents itself as a valid option to realise these updates. The reengineering process can be carried out iteratively in organisations dedicated to the commercialisation of software products. With the objective of supporting this process within computer software manufacturers, this paper presents a methodology for the project management of these types of activities, adopting an approach that focuses on the continuous improvement of the process. This methodology is adaptable to the requirements of organisations and the characteristics of the software product. The focus of improvement of the reengineering process is performed in the model by means of continuous inspection and supply. The proposed methodology has been tested in the context of a European software vendor. The results of the implementation demonstrate a promising and feasible methodology to conduct commercial software reengineering efforts.
