Abstract: This paper examines the practice of total quality management in the US Department of Defense. Specifically, this paper addresses the total quality management process, philosophy, concepts, attributes, and the problems encountered by the Department of Defense in its implementation efforts. Issues related to quality and the defence industry which need to be addressed in the future are also suggested.
