Authors: Otto Hieronymi

Abstract: Over the last decade, electronics policies have proliferated among both the developed and developing countries. Some governments have created rigid frameworks for guiding their industries into the |information age|, while others have limited themselves to so-called |infant| industry policies. Although many of these policies may serve short-term national goals, the author notes that their cumulative effects can be detrimental to the international economy.
Keywords: electronics industry; national electronics policies; technological nationalism; government policy; information age; technology management.
