Abstract: Process innovation strategies are rare in traditionally |non-process| industries. Why do non-process industries appear to be so slow to learn from successful innovation in the process industries. What are the principal concepts and practices of process innovation? This paper examines some examples of success in process innovation strategies in several process industries. Similar successes in non-process industries are also described. Managerial policies in the two types of industry are compared, and a number of ideas for the management of process innovation in the non-process industries are offered.
