Abstract: This paper deals with supervisory control application design. In the first part, needs and uses of supervisory control applications are described. Supervisory control can take several points of view according to objectives, plant technology and business area. One of the main problems with supervisory control applications design of manufacturing systems is from data measurement which is to be able to determine pertinent information to monitor product and process. In the second part of the paper, the two different solutions (integrated or separated) to link the monitoring and the control modules are detailed. In this paper, we propose an original separated approach to monitor manufacturing Discrete Event Systems. The implementation on an industrial example of the methodology shows difficulties and applicability.
