Abstract: The development of new tools and systems in the last decades is basically a response to the demanding market related to the precision engineering. Higher material removal rate, smaller tolerances, superior surface quality and roughness and cost effective processes are the main targets in this regard. This paper summarises some of the recent innovative developments aimed at achieving the mentioned targets. Here, the aim is just to have a brief and compact information about the core and main concept of the innovations and not detail explanation; however, the references provide more information regarding the novel concepts and tools.

Keywords: grinding tools; undefined cutting edges; chip formation.
