Abstract: A graph theoretic system approach for modelling and analysis of electroplating system is proposed. The method identifies subsystems, hierarchical tree, graph models, matrix models and permanent function of the system. A number of alternative design solutions can be generated at the conceptual stage of design and after analysis using different terms of the permanent function, optimum design of an electroplating system is selected. Commercially off-the-shelf subsystems can be selected optimally from the global market. Step-by-step procedure is given for the benefit of the industry. An illustrative example demonstrates the implementation of methodology.

Keywords: electroplating systems; system structure; graph theory; matrix approach; VPF; variable permanent function; modelling; optimal design.
