Abstract: Museums are beginning to design interactive platforms to allow visitors| active participation. These participatory platforms are taken as tools to analyse participation in the context of museums from a design perspective. The main questions in my research are how to design to motivate participation in museums and what are the expected results of this participation. Design decisions are keys in attracting and modifying participation. The quality of visitors| participation depends on the possibilities that these platforms open, on the learning experience that visitors have in the museum, and on the cultural and social characteristics of the museum.
