Abstract: The European auto emission quality control standard is concerned with the emission of pollutants based on variable sequential sampling plans. There are two types of test statistics for production conformity testing. The first one is used when the production standard deviation given by the manufacturer is satisfactory and the second one is used when the standard deviation is unsatisfactory. Both test statistics assume infinite batch size. We propose a variable sequential sampling plan which considers a given finite batch size. The concept is applied to an auto industry problem and its results are compared with infinite batch size sampling plan. We show that our model provides a more exact sampling plan for low volume production auto industries with respect to auto emission.
