Abstract: Sensors and sensory networks allow capture and integration of real-time data and are becoming a vital part of organisational IT infrastructures. But they also have certain characteristics that can impact the quality of data collected. Our first objective is to identify the implications of sensors and sensory networks for data quality. Our second objective is to describe a method for managing data quality in sensory networks using the Information Product (IP) approach. To effectively deploy sensory networks, we present a conceptual architecture to manage data quality in sensory networks. We instantiate this architecture in a real-life healthcare application and illustrate how this application addresses some of the implications for data quality identified here.
