Abstract: The integrated characteristics of motor vehicle utilisation effectiveness are put forward. An integrated approach to estimation of vehicle dynamics and fuel economy makes possible to optimise electing some essential design parameters diversely affecting vehicle productiveness and fuel consumption. The results of regression analysis of productiveness and fuel economy effect on transportation costs along with degree and relationships of the effect are presented. The simple and effective procedure of selecting transmission ratios of progressive density (hyperbolic series) is developed. The examples of choosing engine power, transmission ratios and maximum speed for 16t diesel-engined train (gross weight 28 t) and computing gearbox ratios with progressive series density are given.

Keywords: fuel economy; integrated characteristics; productiveness; regression analysis; vehicle; vehicle efficiency.
