Abstract: This paper analyses the feasibility of optimum recruitment of software professionals by employing an MADM approach called TOPSIS, by way of identifying skills, qualities and other attributes of these professionals for a given job or application. It develops an n-digit alphanumeric attribute code for knowledge workers in tabular form and further identifies pertinent attributes dependent on specific job requirements. It also evaluates and compares any candidate with respect to a positive and negative ideal solution and ensures that the candidate optimally recruited is the closest to the ideal solution and the furthest from the worst solution. It has further suggested sensitivity analysis using this coding scheme and TOPSIS, which may find application in re-engineering training programmes in critical areas.
