Abstract: Although business innovation and channel collaboration are also claimed to represent driving forces in value delivery in terms of customer value creation and firm value appropriation, much of the evidence to date remains anecdotal, and, thus, the collaboration-innovation-value chain reminds a |black box|. In this context, we adopt a capabilities view and a causal model is proposed to test the postulated relationships between the key constructs by deploying multi-country data. Our results indicate strong positive associations between the business innovation capability and firm value delivery, and, further, that this relationship is clearly reinforced by an isolating mechanism in terms of the collaborative capability a firm possesses.

Keywords: business innovation; channel collaboration; value delivery.
