Abstract: High performance grinding processes require grinding wheels that can be dressed with a variety of different methods and that can rotate at exceptionally high speeds without distorting or failing catastrophically. These wheels are usually reinforced and the grinding medium is usually attached to the periphery of the wheel using a strong bonding agent such as epoxy adhesive. This paper uses a set of procedures that were developed for designing grinding wheels for creep feed grinding processes and the more modern process of high efficiency deep grinding. Procedures for safe practice and good mechanical design safety at very high rotational speeds are discussed.
