Abstract: P/M Distaloy alloys have found extensive applications in the automotive industry as different kinds of wear-resistant structural parts. They are characterised by good density, hardness, tensile strength and good ductility. During the present experiments, Distaloy SA powder manufactured by Hoganas Company of the following chemical composition Fe -1.75 wt % Ni-1.50 wt % Cu-0.50 wt % Mo has been used. P/M Distaloy SA alloys with a boron admixture of 0.2 wt %, 0.4 wt % and 0.6 wt % have been prepared by mixing, compacting and sintering. Those alloys have then been subjected to ion-nitriding for increasing their surface hardness. Investigations of those alloys with respect to their mechanical and structural properties have been performed. The influence of boron on the structure and properties of sintered and ion-nitrided Distaloy SA alloys modified by boron have been discussed.

Keywords: boron; ion-nitrided Distaloy alloys; sintered Distaloy alloys.
