Abstract: In this paper, it is suggested that Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT) organisational alignment, that is, the adequate fit between the strategy planned for the organisation and the execution of the strategies involving IS/IT, is achieved not through a microplanning of the variables involved, but through the establishment of favourable IS/IT-related contexts. IS/IT organisational fit contexts are regarded as IS/IT-related dynamic competencies. This paper puts forward a conceptual model offered for empirical validation.
