Abstract: Electrical cars and hybrid electric vehicles are usually based on an electrical machine. It is widely used in the traction phase and in some particular applications during the recharging phase. Knowing the various forms and their advantages and disadvantages will enhance the transport infrastructure and improve global performance. This paper presents three kinds of electrical devices used in electric and hybrid vehicles for this purpose. These devices are based on permanent rotor magnets. The first model is a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) with two versions: a double rotor permanent magnet synchronous machine (DRPMSM) and a single rotor called PMSM. The second model is a brushless DC unit, often characterised as a PMSM model. The modelling process for each type of motor was defined, and the corresponding mathematical equation is provided.
