Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of building new resources for curricula by reusing existing resources and by assembling resource components. The assembly process is described through a set of guidelines attached to a map. The reusable resource components should be defined and stored in a Learning Object Repository (LOR). Though heterogeneous, they are all described by standard meta-data or ontology of domain used as selection criteria. A model for defining resources within a specific curriculum (namely International e-Mi@ge) has been defined. It offers a model to be instantiated in various contexts in order to define different ways of representing inter-resource links. The LOR components represent fragments of resources with a specific objective to fulfil. Descriptors are attached to the components for describing their usage context. The main contribution of this paper lies in the guidance provided for reusing and assembling resource components. Interesting related work is reviewed before giving the conclusion.
