Quality tools and techniques: an introspection and detailed classification

Abstract: In the present scenario, manufacturing organisations leads to the development and innovation of accelerating product in worldwide competition for their quality, functionality and versatility. It defines the detailed specification and phase of development process of manufacturing products for achieving desired results. The important step to get ahead in this competition is devastating new products in order to create difference and meeting the customer requirements. Consequently, effective utilisation of a certain QT&T is highly reliant on adequate knowledge of tool and techniques so as to achieve anticipated results in terms of higher product quality and it ultimately helps to meet the requirements of global competition. So, the main purpose of this paper is to examine the usage, application and suitability of different quality tools and techniques (QT&T) in manufacturing organisations. Total 152 quality tools and techniques are identified and categorised into 16 groups based on their characteristics of applications, suitability and usages.
