Abstract: The insufficient contact of coolant over the cutting area had paved a way in the development of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) with three nozzles in the turning of AISI 410 stainless steel using uncoated tungsten carbide as inserts. The process parameters considered are the cutting speed, environment and the feed. The assessments of the performance consist of examining the surface roughness, cutting force, wear of the inserts and chip morphology. Experiments are performed by using Taguchi's L9 orthogonal array. Analysis of variance is used to determine the dominant parameters. The results indicate that MQL system with three nozzles is effective in controlling the responses. In addition, the machined surfaces, chips and the inserts were examined under scanning electron microscope to reveal the texture generated.
