Abstract: The study appraises the state of the implementation of MDG 1 projects that are targeted at alleviating poverty in Enugu State, Nigeria. It ascertained the extent of the communities' participation, the extent MDG 1 projects succeeded in alleviating poverty, the constraints to effective implementation of MDG 1 projects, and the strategies for enhancing the implementation of MDG 1 projects in Enugu State. Thirty-two autonomous communities were randomly selected from six local government areas. The study adopted descriptive survey research design and collated data were analysed using mean and standard deviation. Findings from the study revealed that the communities participated to a low extent, and that MDG 1 projects succeeded in alleviating poverty to a low extent. Also the major constraints were lack of expert management capacity as well as poor monitoring and evaluation which affected effective implementation. The study further recommended participation of the community and effective monitoring and evaluation of MDG 1 projects in Enugu State.
