Abstract: Reconstruction of a 3D mesh with displacement vectors for medical images is a recent method that allows the use of modern GPUs to speed up calculations of 3D visualisation and to optimise the storage process. The algorithm used to generate the displacement vectors lead to obtain non-uniform meshes with errors of form in certain situation. Our contribution is focused on improving of this algorithm. Our strategy is based on the extraction of contour anatomy from the sequence of 2D slices. And then, the generation of displacement vectors by discretising this contour depending on the level of details that we want to display. The numbers of displacement vectors of each polygon in the base mesh changes according to the length of the extracted contour, which allows having the uniform meshes. Generating the displacement vectors based on the real contour allows overcoming extraction errors we have in the original algorithm.
