Abstract: The paper focuses on the level of employee engagement and organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) in a leading Indian public sector oil company. These aspects were measured through a survey, and the major factors influencing them were identified. Factor analysis results indicate that loyalty, organisational commitment, conscientiousness and civic virtue are the major factors affecting OCB; and that employee worth, employee development and awareness, organisational communication and benefits, and employee involvement are the major factors affecting employee engagement. A high level of OCB and a moderate level of engagement were found on the basis of our survey. Various data analysis tools were used to identify difference in employee opinion for both employee engagement and OCB. Also, the degree of relationship between OCB and employee engagement for different grades was calculated. Based on the findings, different employee engagement activities, based on the specific needs of the employees, were suggested for different grades of employees.
