Abstract: Abrasive water jet cutting (AWJC) is a rapidly developing technology that is used in industry for cutting of ceramic materials. Dense Si3N4, is one of the very hard ceramic materials, used for both room and high-temperature structural application, was machined by abrasive water jet machining technique. The selection of optimum values of important process parameters of AWJC processes such as water pressure, abrasive flow rate, traverse speed and standoff distance can be done based on parametric study and then optimisation of non-linear functions using Grey-Taguchi method has been introduced for determining optimal AWJC process parametric combinations.
