Abstract: In this paper, the trans-quasi Z-source inverter (trans QZSI) is modelled using state space averaging technique and small signal analysis. This leads to design of controller for a closed loop system that suitably controls a variable voltage variable frequency three phase supply employing a trans QZSI. The trans QZSI with improved buck-boost capability inherits all the advantages of the traditional ZSI and replaces the conventional PWM inverter in the system. The closed loop controller carefully monitors the input variable voltage and controls the shoot-through duty ratio of the inverter employing third harmonic injection maximum constant boost control method. The whole system is modelled, designed and verified through simulation and laboratory experiment. The proposed closed loop system provides the regulated three phase output perfect as a power conditioner by making an appropriate choice of boost factor and effective dynamic and steady state control.
