International Journal of Environmental Engineering (IJEE), Vol. 7, No. 1, 2015

Abstract: The alkali leaching of vanadium from petroleum coke was studied in terms of the effects of several parameters. Results showed that the vanadium concentration in the residue decreased to 200 ppm under the following conditions: reaction time, 5 h; Na2CO3 and NaOH concentrations, 120 and 200 g/L, respectively; H2O2, 12 ml; temperature, 383 K; and particle size, 0.09 mm to 0.106 mm. The alkali leaching kinetics of vanadium from petroleum coke was successfully described by diffusion through the gangue layer control model. The activation energy of this leaching process was found to be 7.9 kJ
