Abstract: In this work, we used carboxylic acid groups to functionalise magnetic beads for biomarker detection. A disposable electrochemical biosensor based on functionalised magnetic beads for C-reactive protein detection was developed. Anti-CRP antibody was grafted on magnetic beads after EDC/NHS activation step. The functionalised magnetic beads layer and the molecular structure of the biosensor were then characterised by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV visible spectrophotometry, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy. Impedance spectra were modelised with electric model. The developed biosensor was able to detect CRP antigen in the range of 0.1-10 pg/ml.
