Sustainable economic development and sustainable energy use

Abstract: The implications of economic growth have concentrated world attention towards sustainable development. The establishment of operational guidelines for sustainable development raises a number of difficulties. This article aims to provide a framework for discussing selected issues relating to sustainability and some of their implications for existing and projected patterns of development. An attempt is made to define paths towards more sustainable patterns of energy use.
