Abstract: The work deals with the evaluation of applicability of reactor net models and different reaction mechanisms for the predictions of emission characteristics of aero-engine combustors operating both in diffusion and in homogeneous burning modes. It is shown that the accuracy of the calculations of emission indices for NOx, CO and unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) is dependent strongly on the applied reaction mechanisms. The computations exhibited that for the combustor operating in a diffusion mode the use of methane as a fuel, instead of kerosene, leads to decreasing NOx (by 35%) emission index, as well as to decreasing the CO and UHC emissions, while for the combustor with homogeneous combustion of fuel-lean mixture the use of methane as a fuel results in an increase of EINOx value (by a factor of 1.4) compared with kerosene-fuelled combustor.
