by Rajeev Kaula
International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology (IJCAT), Vol. 8, No. 1/2, 1995

Abstract: The paper outlines a conceptual architecture that adapts the open-systems approach to integrate knowledge bases in expert system shells. To facilitate application of the open-systems approach, a general framework for open-systems development called an open intelligent information systems architecture is utilised. Vp-expert software is considered to outline the general structure of an open-systems based expert system shell environment. A prototype case is used to demonstrate the working of the environment.
