Technical Report/New Innovations. A steering trailer: design aspects and experimental results
by Scott Kimbrough
International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems (IJHVS), Vol. 1, No. 3, 1994

Abstract: A steering trailer was built to test the feasibility and effectiveness of a proposed automatic steering system. Answers were sought to these questions: 1) do the proposed control strategies work? 2) what type of actuator is required? 3) what sensors are required? 4) what are driver reactions and impressions? 5) what problems arise? This paper describes the experience gained while analysing, designing, constructing, and testing a small prototype steering trailer.
