Abstract: We propose a novel technique for object tracking with failure detection and recovery mechanisms. Feature of target object is extracted from the properties of the HSV colour space. The target area is represented either as true colour or grey colour area and is tracked in subsequent frames based on feature. The failure is detected and recovered by both enlarge boundary and moving centre techniques. For evaluating the performance of the proposed method, benchmark data sets are used. The result obtained is compared with some of the recent approaches and found that the performance of the proposed approach is encouraging.
