The application of the wavelet finite element method on the temperature calculation of ceramic coating diesel engine piston

Abstract: In order to analyse the temperature distribution of diesel engine piston, the wavelet finite element was constructed based on Daubechies wavelet scale function and traditional finite element. And the temperature distribution of the conventional and ceramic coating diesel engine piston was calculated, respectively. The calculating results obtained by wavelet finite element were compared with experimental values by test and the solutions obtained by ANSYS software. Through analysing the calculation results, the wavelet finite element was convergent and had higher analysis precision than traditional Finite Element Method (FEM). The wavelet FEM could avoid the numerical oscillation during analysis of the transient-state temperature fields of the diesel piston. The wavelet FEM shows advantages for analysing the high gradient problems. The wavelet FEM would effectively offer the theory guidance for the optimising design of the ceramics coating diesel piston.
