Abstract: The adsorption kinetics of nitrate from aqueous solutions onto Modified Corn Residue (MCR) was studied. The Raw Corn Residue (RCR) was modified by epichlorohydrin in the presence of pyridine, and the adsorption kinetics was investigated in batch experiments. The results showed that the MCR adsorbs nitrate effectively, and the maximum adsorption capacities were 80.84 mg g−1 and 72.73 mg g−1 at 20°C and 40°C, respectively. The adsorption of nitrate under different initial concentrations all fit the first-order reaction. The adsorption rates were controlled by both membrane diffusion and intra-particle diffusion.
