Abstract: It is found that κ-ε model can be used to model the fluid flow of rectangular hole flow with downward baffle. A powerful commercial package CFX has been used to simulate this kind of flow in three-dimensions. Eulerian approach/framework has been used for the calculation. Detailed simulation results for the test case from laminar to turbulent flow under different Re-numbers are presented. The simulation plots of hole discharge coefficient and flow resistant factor are showed as well. A formula of jet outlet-angle (α) with the baffle-angle (β) has been developed to predict the fluid outlet ejection. It is found that angle α is quite different from that of inlet angle β. A circulation of outlet stream was found within the simulation column when the fluid jets out of the hole. The formula can be a reference to make further research on rectangular hole flow.
